Happy Monday everyone! Today I’m sharing my new favorite gingham skirt and how I like to wear it! But seriously this thing is so comfortable, flattering and it has pockets! Can you really get any better?!
First I paired this skirt with a classic off the shoulder top. The one that I’m wearing above has a cute little ruffle bell sleeve making it super trendy right now too. The white on gingham gives it a more dressy vibe but this blue gingham is so versatile you can basically pair it with any color under the sun. It would look beautiful with a pretty spring Kelly green.
Then I paired it with a basic navy stripe. There’s just something about stripes and gingham together that I absolutely can’t get enough of! Honestly I wish the skirt was a tad darker or the shirt was a tad lighter just for matching purposes. How cute would that be if I could find an exact match?! Anyway- when I go to pair my stripes and gingham I like to make sure I take into account the size of each. It looks much better if you have a really large bold stripe and a smaller check gingham (or a small stripe and a big gingham check). It differentiates the prints enough and keeps it from looking too busy.
And finally we have my new favorite combo. If you follow me on Instagram you saw me post this floral and gingham look a few days back. I absolutely love it! Florals are always a must for spring and I always love gingham- so they are just the perfect pair. Print size is a big deal when pairing florals to another print too. This top has a good amount of negative space between each flower and the flowers are larger in size making this top really stand out against the gingham bottom. That’s basically my rule of thumb when pairing prints. One has to have more negative space to create a cohesive look. I pair it with my favorite striped clutch last minute and I love the added punch of print it gave to the outfit!
My gingham skirt is on sale right now for just $25 and is an absolute steal for summer (you can find the link above)! I know I’m going to be living in this thing all spring and summer long!
